From nervous engineer to conference keynote

How one client went from dreading stand-ups to opening a 600 person conference in twelve weeks.

Case study

7 min read

When Sam first booked an intro call, the goal was modest: stop dreading the weekly team update. Twelve weeks later, Sam opened a developer conference in front of 600 people. Here is what changed along the way.

The starting point

Sam’s speaking audit showed a familiar pattern. Strong content, rushed delivery, very few pauses and almost no eye contact. Slides carried the talk, and Sam read from them.

What we worked on

  • Weeks 1 to 4: pace, breathing and pausing in short daily drills.

  • Weeks 5 to 8: restructuring talks around one clear message instead of every detail.

  • Weeks 9 to 12: full rehearsals on video with feedback on presence and gesture.

The result

The keynote ran to time, landed its jokes and drew more questions than any other session that day. More importantly, Sam now volunteers for presentations instead of avoiding them.
